Why Scream 3 Is The Best Of The Scream Saga:
. The complete second half of the film is literally flawless (post-Sidney comes out of hiding). The first 25 minutes are also pretty flawless, too, but not in the same park as the second half's brilliance. The only time it makes any mistakes is the 20 minute gap between Sarah Darling and Jennifer's house explosion <- it's not bad ...it's like 65% great, 35% flawed.
. The three intertwined storylines (Sidney's metal heath, Maureen Prescott's past, and Stab 3) makes for a very strong driven narrative.
. Has the strongest message of all four films (even though Scream 4's is very strong.) The message of the movie -> the first two asked the question are movies responsible for people killing? Most blame Hollywood for influencing the youth of America to be violent murders. The movies themselves don't, but the drama behind the scenes is enough to start a murdering bloodbath. Scream 3 shows us Sidney Prescott, a woman has lived through two killing sprees and has her life intertwined in this Hollywood drama. She, also, is in a bad mental state as a result. Yet, she is able to put the darkness aside from her past and move on with her life. You kill because you chose to...the movies, the people behind the movies, don't matter...it's your journey....you're decision.
. The role of Sidney was handled the best. Her scenes were crucial to her character development; there was no scene that felt like they edited in as a "filler" to get to the finale like the previous films.
. Scream 3 was the most emotional of the four.
. It was more brave than the first two and the fourth by having a male opening victim, let alone a recurring character who was the hero of the previous film.
. Neve Campbell's performance was flawless. The best acting I've ever seen.
. It was the funniest of the four without using the "spoof" to be funny.
. I think it’s the scariest of the four. Very thrilling, as much as terror (Blood doesn't matter...this is Scream not Saw).
. It was without a doubt the most surprising.
. I like the "adult society" plot it has compared to the first two and fourth who were about high school world and college life.
. It was the most plot heavy of the four, and I like plot; twists.
. The best climax/finale of the series. Brutal.
. Best production values: film editing, art direction, sound mixing, sound editing, visual effects, and the score! Scream 2 had slightly better cinematography and costume design.
. Contains the best supporting character in the entire series (excluding the trio in the earlier films), yes I'm talking to you Jennifer.
. The whole deja vu to Woodsboro and Sidney on the Stab 3 set was creepy and very effective. It goes back to the original and pulls out the unseen.
. Finds the equilibrium that 1, 2, and 4 couldn't find. It was terrifying, but you thoroughly enjoyed it.
.The killer had the best and most motivation to want Sidney dead out of the seven killers.
. The character development with the main three was a perfect epilogue. Wrapped up the story with loose ends being cut off while incorporating a little bit of "let the viewer decide." The new cast was different from the first sequel and the third sequel; in Scream 2 and Scream 4 the characters were so sketched out to be likeable with quirky personalities, it made them unlikeable. In Scream 3 they weren’t designed to be likeable; the audience was allowed to like new characters in Scream 3 on their own.
. The fact that it was original. This is more-so pointing to Scream 2, than the original even though in some ways the original was vastly similar to Halloween. Scream 4 was making fun of remakes so, I'm not sure if I can fault it for homaging the first three in every scene. The clever plot with the Stab 3 cast being offed as they are in the script; life imitating art.

I'm giving up! (SCREAM related)

This shit on the Scream 4, by supposed Scream fans constantly slapping up Scream 3 is about to send me over the edge. It's horrible on the IMDb message board for Scream's next film, Scream 4. (This is not a classy post, but I DON'T CARE!)

Any time anything goes wrong (whether it be the first three films or Scream 4), it's Scream 3's fault, no matter if it's Scream 4's script, cinematography, acting, whatever! Users constantly trying to make flaws out of the third film and it is sad. Scary movies don't have to be gory to be scary. This isn't Saw, it's SCREAM! Even with the lack of blood, Scream 3 had more blood than 85% of slasher films of that era. That is the only "flaw" I can find and it doesn't really bother me that much.

The only reason people bash it is because Kevin Williamson's name isn't credited as the writer. If it was, no one would be bitching. And yes, we are talking about the perfect Kevin Williamson, the writer of Cursed, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and The Faculty; and let me not forget Dawson's Creek and The Vamprie Diaries!

I'm not saying everyone has to love it or even like it, or consider it the best or second best of the series because I understand everyone has their opnions, but people are acting like it's the root of evil. One user compared it to Hitler! HITLER! COME ON!

These people are turning me off from the series, and Scream consumes my life! I'm afraid I'm going to begin to not like the films anymore because of these stupid cunts! And now they have one 45 second comment from Wes (by the way thanks Wes) to use as their asset. I've been tryign to defend it as best I could, but enough is enough!

Psycho_JAK posted this once on the S3 board: Don't worry if people don't share your opinion. There's always going to be people who say you're stupid just because your opinion differs from theirs. They also might say your opinion is wrong, but an opinion can't be wrong. Anyway, I love all 3 Screams, but the 3rd is better than 2, IMO.

It's a fabulous quote, but it's not enough to have to go through this abuse from these fucking people! A movie website should not cause this much stress on my life. But IMDb doesn't care that this stuff's going on, unless if stuff like this happens on the big boards like "Oscar Buzz".

I'm lost and aggravated. I'm about to fucking explode!

Hey detective, what's your favorite scary movie? - Sidney Prescott, S3

In the movie, Kincaid answers "My life". My answer: The Scream 4 Message Board.

Thursday

Best of "The Scream Trilogy" in Oscar Categories.

Best Sound Editing/EffectsScream 3 for Jennifer's house exploding. Woah.

Best Sound MixingScream 3, for the same reason as above.

Best Make-UpScream for all the blood and gore the actors had splattered during the opening and Act 3.

Best Special EffectsScream, the blood and guts. Yuck.

Best Use Musical ScoreScream 3, for the times Sidney's in isolation. Really sets the mood. I love the music when she walks onto the Stab 3 set, through Stu's house door.

Best Costume Design the hardest category to pick from. I love Gale's costumes from Scream 2, so I guess I'll pick Scream 2. I loved Sid's from 3, though.

Best Art DirectionScream 3 is by far the best. Milton's house alone could earn the honor. But combined with the Stab 3 replicas and Sidney's house in the woods, there's really no contest. The only set that even holds a candle to any of the sets in 3 is the Cassandra stage for the finale in 2.

Best CinematographyScream 2, it's different than 1 and 3, it's more gothic, more haunting.

Best Film EditingScream 3, 1 and 2 had too many editing errors to even qualify.

Best EnsembleScream, I was tempted to say 2, but it's ensemble was huge and Scream 1 kept it simple. 10-11 people in the entire ensemble that had a speaking part. Compared to 2 and 3's 19/20.

**Means the entire cast down to the smallest role possible.

Best Primary CastScream 3. The adults handled controlling the film better than the kids, IMO.

*The Primary Cast would be like, who would be in the opening credits if Scream was a TV show...
1: Neve, Skeet, Courteney, David, Drew, Matthew, Rose, and Jamie
2: Neve, Courteney, David, Jada, Sarah Michelle, Jerry, and Jamie
3: Neve, Courteney, David, Parker, Patrick, Jenny, Scott, and Liev

Best FinaleScream 3 without a shadow of a doubt. I love everything from the time Sid gets the call in the police station until the door flies open unconditionally. It's the best 20 minutes of a film I've ever seen, IMO. I do love the other two finales, but 3's is perfect. If anyone needs me to expand, PM.

Best OpeningScream, I can't imagine anyone not putting Casey Becker down here.

Best David PerformanceScream 2, "effectively maneuver within any given situation."

Best Courteney PerformanceScream 2, "The killer's Cotton *beep* WEARY!"

Best Neve PerformanceScream 3, "She was in there Dewey, I swear, I swear!"

Best Plot WritingScream 3, there's no denying Scream 3 was plot savy.

Best Metaphor WritingScream 2, Cassandra play to Sid's life. Nuff Said.

Best Writing DialogueScream witty beyond expectation

Best Writing OverallScream It's shocking that Kevin wrote it in only 3 days.

Best Wes DirectionScream 2, he makes everything flow very well, Scream 2 jumped around alot. I don't think just anyone could've directed that cop car scene

Best Film: I love them all so, but I love Scream 3 the most.

1= 6/22
2= 6/22
3= 10/22

First SCREAM4 Clip1 + New ET Interviews.

Wow, it's been a big day. The first Scream 4 clips were released as well as new interviews from Entertainment Tonight. This is going to be an awesome movie. Today marks 24 Days until the return of Sidney, Gale, and Dewey. Or as the reporter says in the trailer, "Today marks the anniversary of the infamous Woodsboro murders. Local celebrity victim, Sidney Prescott chose to return to her hometown."

The History of the "Scream 4" Trailers

So far, we've been honored with three Scream 4 trailers.

The first was a segment at the Scream Awards (ironic, right?) 0:54:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt53UlykMF8

The next was the "official teaser" which was basically what we saw at the SA without being as revealing 1:27:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlaZfOiGaCU

Lastly, the most recent preview of Scream 4 knocked fans back in their seat with tons of dialogue and new scenes we hadn't seen prior to the new video for the "official trailer". 2:31:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5TsZ6iyaH4

3) The second trailer (the "official" teaser) was kind of disappointing in a way. It was just a bunch of scenes clustered together instead of taking time to let us meet other characters besides hear the rules. And all it was showing us was everything we saw two days earlier at the Scream Awards, but they took out all the revealing stuff.

2) The official trailer was a great update from the "official teaser" and improved everything they did wrong in the teaser. It was wonderful to see an overview of the story and getting to see the gang back together. It also spoiled who was going to steal the show: Courteney and Hayden

1) The first trailer at the Scream Awards was an eye-opener. It premiered two weeks before Halloween which was awesome because it set the tone very well. It showed me what I've waited years to see. It was very revealing in terms of death scenes and chase scenes and such. The best part is seeing all the barn scene shots. There are probably about 8 or 9 of them. Awesome.

Scream Homaged in Unpolished and prejudiced Horrorhound Article

It was announced about two weeks ago that Scream was being honored by "Horrorhound" Magazine in the cover story of how crucial the 1996 film was to the horror genre and how Scream came to be. The full article is not online, yet. But it's nothing to be jumping out of your seats over. Yes, it is about 10 pages long and includes an animation of the characters in Scream 1 drawn into a poster which is neat, along with tons of merchandise and posters pasted throughout the article.

15 pages on the history of movie series that consumes my life filled with colorful and shiny pictures: It seems like a perfect fit. The editors obviously chose the wrong journalist to complete this task of welcoming Scream 4 with loving arms into the genre. Clearly there was no direction here; the author of the article, Eric Newell, stumbles with the subject of the most popular horror movie series of all-time.

Whenever you have a sixteen year old who is still in high school struggling to reading a magazine piece on horror movies for reason alone because of spelling errors is pretty embarrassing not just to the author at hand, but to his editor, his peers, and his magazine's reputation. He constantly throughout the article changes the spelling of the characters names, example: the first page or so he called Neve Campbell's character by her real name, Sidney. Flip the page and he's spelling her name wrong, Sydney. Same with Gale (real spelling) -> Gayle (his rewritten version). Goodness, he can't even pay respects to the queen of Hollywood, Meryl Streep (Merrill Streep, speaking of Wes Craven's film with her prior to the third Scream film).

Simple grammer that I've learned he just fell prey to. Where and when to place commas was a big one as well. I also found that Newell recycled his same vocabulary throughout the article. Granted, I understand that five-six pages is a heck of alot to write and he probably had the same word on his mind while jotting down his "deep thoughts". I'm not saying I'm an expert in grammar or editorials, but come on, this is just lousy journalism.

Now, onto my real beef with this guy. He begins the article by saying that he was a prejudiced writer and Scream "fan" as he claimed to put that aside before writing this article. "Ever the faithful writer" he referred to himself. He begins the major part of the write-up, fine, actually more than fine, very good. He explains how the horror genre was dying and when Scream was released it revived it. Newell also goes into it's impact on horror movies to come; how it started the "teen slasher era" of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

After he concluded what he must say about the original film, he continues to the two sequels. Anyone who knows me knows I love 2 and 3 just as much as I do the first film, and this guy tore them to shreds. Newell decides to focuses on the negative things he conjured up from the truth. I must say he did shed more light heart on 2 than 3. He degrades them and ridicules them which is very offensive to fans of the series who buy the magazine for the sole purpose of reading something on their favorite films.

All journalists should remain neutral whether they are covering competing bestsellers or an unsolved murder case. Eric Newell is a prime example of what not to do when it comes to achieving film series summaries. Although it starts out as a somewhat strong piece, it fails because of this journalists lack of professionalism.

Best Acting In the "Scream Trilogy"

The thing that really separates these three films from the rest of the genre is its magnificent acting jobs. I'm sure the fourth will be no exception. I don't really know who besides Courteney, Neve, and Hayden will steal the show.  Cox and Campbell have been in the top 5 for each film so far, Arquette has only got it once  I hope he matures a little with his acting in this one. He isn't bad, but the two ladies are so radiant! It's very safe to say that the Scream series is female driven.

Wednesday

Oscars 2011

There has been alot of controversy about the Oscars this past Sunday. Some are even calling it the worst telecast in history. I beg to differ, it was actually one of the best I thought. I thought Anne Hathaway and James Franco did an excellent jobs as hosts. More so Hathaway than Franco. But, both still good. I loved the opening montage of the six Best Picture contenders and how they were photoshopped into them. It was hilarious*except for Anne's duck dance, serious ;/ The only other part of the show I didn't care for was the Short Films and Documentary sections. So B-O-R-I-N-G.

The winners were predicted, but still great.
- Inception winning for Cinematography was a pleasant surprise, though.
- AliceInWonderlandx2 <3
- Love Inception sweeping the tech (both Sound and FX)
- My biggest complaint of the night was If I Rise didn't win Best Song, Toy Story 3 did. That's a bunch of BS
- The Social Network shouldn't have won Score or Editing, both should've gone to Inception, but I was ready for that, unlike 127 Hours with song
- TKS and TSN for screenplays were respectable choices
- Melissa Leo's speech was the best of the night. F-BOMB alert
- Christian Bale's win was okay, I was disappointed Renner and Rush didn't get it, but oh well
- Colin Firth win <<<<3333
- The King's Speech winning Picture and Director is great, though I'd put two films ahead of it in my line-up....it's a better win than TSN or True Grit.
- Natalie winning made my night :) Best win of the year.

Enjoyed every bit of myself watching it.

Still Screaming Doc Poster OUT!

Love the style of it, but they should be really using Neve's Scream 3 look and Courteney's Scream 2 look. Other than that, and that obscure girl in the middle, I LOVE IT.
