Christian Slater, however, steals the film. His villainous turn reminds of Kevin Kline's personality in A Fish Called Wanda crossed with Heath Ledger's murdering tendencies in The Dark Knight. Using Kline and Ledger's masterpieces as examples may seem like a bold statement, but Slater's quality performance is right up there. He's charming beyond belief, but truly gets under your skin in the horror scenes. "You can't live with him, but you can't live without him."
The film itself is pretty impressive for its time. It *is* the film that began the whole pop culture of teen comedies such as Mean Girls and Jawbreaker. You would've had to have been pretty brave to even consider making this film back when it was. It is offensive to certain groups of people, but, magically, the groups of people won't be offended. It's all good fun; a brilliant mix of comedy and suspense.
85/100
